Catch the Fever: Experience Mazatlán at the Baseball Diamond

If you find yourself in Mazatlán winter, there’s no better way to experience local culture than by attending a Los Venados baseball game. With a passionate fanbase and a lively atmosphere, it's a delightfully local experience.

Watching Los Venados play is part of a time-honored local tradition that offers a glimpse into the community’s spirit and pride. From the moment you arrive at the stadium, you're greeted by the kind of enthusiasm and infectious energy that turns an activity into an unforgettable experience. The gameday atmosphere is nothing short of electric, with cheerleaders, banda music, and the beloved mascot, Venny, keeping the crowd roaring between innings.

Estadio Teodoro Mariscal is more than just a baseball stadium; it’s a vibrant hub of entertainment, where locals catch games, go to concerts, and celebrate the most important Mazatlán Carnival coronations. After undergoing renovations worth more than $15 million in 2019, the home of Mazatlán’s Venados was transformed into a state-of-the-art facility with modern amenities that include expanded food and dining options, additional suites, a new clubhouse, a museum dedicated to the home team, event spaces, a fitness center, and improvements made to the grandstands and the parking lot that elevate the guest experience.

The reinvigorated second-level food concourse boasts a diverse range of dining options, so you can enjoy a hearty snack while cheering on Los Venados and buy a round of drinks to celebrate a run. For a more formal experience, enjoy a meal at one of the stadium’s two restaurants. Located on the third level of the stadium, they offer the wonderful opportunity to dine while overlooking the field.

The team typically plays from October through January, with playoffs extending the season into February. Any home game is fun, but check the schedule for particularly challenging match-ups and special theme nights, which can include fireworks, live music, and special promotions.

Attending a Venados game is unlike any other experience you’re likely to have in Mazatlán. It’s a family-friendly outing where you'll witness everything from exciting dance routines on the field and spirited chants from the grandstands to exhilarating gameplay. Before you know it, you’ll be cheering on the home team with the most fervent fans and adding a game or two to your next visit.

If you're looking to do something a little different while you’re in town, you can’t go wrong with an afternoon watching Los Venados do what they do best. Ticket prices are reasonable and the concessions offer delicious food at a great value. As for the opportunity to immerse yourself in one of Mazatlán’s greatest passions? That’s priceless.
