Empowering Women, Changing Lives: The Letty Coppel Foundation’s Commitment to Women’s Well-Being
At Pueblo Bonito Resorts, we believe true luxury lies in the ability to make a difference. This Women’s Month, we celebrate the Letty Coppel Foundation, a beacon of hope and empowerment for women across Mexico. From health initiatives and social support programs to fostering economic independence, the foundation’s work is changing lives—one woman at a time.
Letty Coppel’s story is one of resilience and vision. Rising from humble beginnings, she built a career that led her to create a foundation devoted to well-being, education, and empowerment. Today, as the CEO of the Letty Coppel Foundation, she leads a predominantly female team, ensuring women have the resources they need to grow and succeed.
Through healthcare, social programs, and economic support, the foundation’s work spans far beyond charity—it creates lasting change for women, their families, and the communities they call home.
A core mission of the Letty Coppel Foundation is to promote women’s health and well-being through education and medical support—both preventive and curative. In collaboration with the Municipal DIF of Los Cabos and Mazatlán, the foundation hosts breast cancer awareness campaigns, self-examination workshops, and public talks to foster a culture of open communication and early detection. The foundation also hosts yearly galas to raise money to purchase and donate prosthetics to breast cancer survivors in the region.
To make these vital services more accessible, the foundation operates several Mobile Medical Units in Los Cabos and Mazatlán, offering free medical services that include mammograms, Pap smears, bone density scans, physician consultations, and dental care to underserved communities. By working closely with health authorities and local organizations, the foundation ensures women receive the medical care they need, regardless of their financial situation.
But there’s more to living than healthcare, of course, so the foundation also stands up for and alongside women facing violence and hardship in their homes. In partnership with the Women’s Institute of Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlán, the foundation provides shelter, emotional support, and employment training for women who have experienced domestic violence, abandonment, or financial insecurity. Through education, job placement, and empowerment programs, program participants are given the tools they need to reclaim their independence and build a better future for themselves and their families.
And, because financial independence is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and vulnerability, the Letty Coppel Foundation offers vocational training, mentorship programs, and job assistance to help women achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency. In addition, the foundation supports working mothers by ensuring their children have access to essential resources and opportunities.
A daily breakfast program provides school-age children in vulnerable communities with nutritious meals. Whether hot or cold, these meals ensure the kids are fueled and energized for a day of learning. The foundation also distributes school supplies, backpacks, and warm sweatshirts so children can attend school comfortably and focus on what matters most: their education. There’s a program for monthly grocery distribution and summer workshops for children ages 5-11 to create engaging, educational experiences that foster creativity, logical reasoning, and emotional growth. This kind of support helps give mothers peace of mind while their children learn, play, and develop critical life skills.
As Women’s Month reminds us to honor the strength and resilience of women everywhere, we celebrate Letty Coppel and her foundation’s unwavering dedication to improving local communities. Through compassionate leadership and action, the Letty Coppel Foundation continues to uplift women, transform lives, and shape a brighter future for generations to come.
