Letty Coppel Foundation’s Los Cabos Social Assistance Center Celebrates Two Years

May marks two years since the Letty Coppel Foundation opened its Los Cabos Social Assistance Center. Having witnessed a local need for more social services and greater accessibility, Ms. Coppel and her foundation opened the center to improve locals’ quality of life in Los Cabos. Having garnered awards for everything from hazardous waste management to the fight against cancer, the nonprofit organization has become an essential ingredient in the physical health and cultural preservation of the Los Cabos and Mazatlán communities.

Among the foundation’s many philanthropic efforts, its primary social assistance programs include support to children and women with cancer, support to people with disabilities, care for the elderly, school breakfast programs, and food and clothing distribution all for the most vulnerable populations of Los Cabos and Mazatlán. Within these categories, special attention is provided at the brick-and-mortar Letty Coppel Social Assistance Centers where community members can receive physical rehabilitation, psychological care, intergenerational recreational opportunities, employment assistance, and more. The foundation also designates significant resources to community development initiatives, including mobile medical care, summer workshops, and resources for women who are victims of violence. Finally, in an effort to preserve and promote local culture and traditions, the Letty Coppel Foundation has initiated projects to do everything from protecting sea turtles to rehabbing Los Cabos’ Faro Viejo.

There’s so much more, of course—a lot made possible by generous donations to the foundation and generous community support—but this brief introduction should be enough to grow any guest’s appreciation for the Coppel’s life work and dedication to the local communities where they’ve built their Pueblo Bonito properties. The foundation hosted a small celebration at the Letty Coppel Social Assistance Center to mark its anniversary on the 19th of May which included a mass followed by cocktails for workers, friends, benefactors, etc.

When you book your stay at Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos or any Pueblo Bonito property, consider the part you may play in supporting the local community. The Letty Coppel Foundation is just one small example that demonstrates what a big difference every altruistic action can make.
