Quivira Golf Club Celebrates 10 Years

A decade ago, Jack Nicklaus was on hand to cut the ribbon signaling the official opening of Quivira Golf Club. This masterpiece sculpted out of what the famed golfer and course designer called “a very challenging yet spectacular piece of property” has since captivated golfers and nature enthusiasts, offering a breathtaking blend of challenging golf among stunning landscapes.

From the moment you step onto the property, it’s hard not to look around with a sense of awe and wonder. The dramatic cliffs towering above shifting dunes and pristine beaches set the stage for an unforgettable golf experience. Each hole presents a unique challenge, with many offering captivating views of crashing waves. The par-3 7th hole, in particular, is a must-play. It's a short, sharp drop from a clifftop tee to a green perched on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

“There is good golf even before you get to the ocean holes,” said Nicklaus about his design. “I’ve never seen any place that has three holes hanging out over the ocean like this golf course does. They are unbelievable. This is a diverse golf course with inland settings: it’s got desert, it’s got ocean, it’s got rocks. It has a little bit of everything.”

While the rugged Los Cabos coastline may add a sense of drama that intimidates some players, the course was specifically designed to be player friendly. The layout is accessible for the average player from the forward tees, and Nicklaus made sure to give the pros and low handicappers challenging play from the back tees.

From the outset, Quivira made a name for itself, hosting numerous high-profile events and welcoming famous visitors, including professional golfers and celebrities. In its short time, it has consistently remained a top destination for golfers seeking a challenging and visually stunning experience.

But Quivira is about much more than a day on the fairways. Its thatched-roof clubhouse—located between the first tee and the 18th hole—is a casually luxurious facility that serves as a natural gathering spot. It offers golfers, community residents, and resort guests ample outdoor seating and dining options, including The Quivira Steakhouse and the 19th Hole Bar. Also at the clubhouse is a well-stocked pro shop that offers Taylor Made club rentals, top golf apparel brands, and logoed merchandise and accessories, as well as sunscreen and other sundries.

In its tenth year, Quivira Golf Club continues to be recognized, making it to the top of Best Of lists from the likes of Links Magazine, Golf Digest, Golfweek, and Golf World UK.

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or a casual player, Quivira continues to set the standard for golf course design and luxury resort living. To add a day at our clifftop course during your Pueblo Bonito vacation or book tee time during your stay, click here.
