The Cabo San Lucas Marina
Whether you’re looking to moor your own boat, find a slip of a friend, begin a deep-sea fishing tour, or climb aboard a luxury boating trip, Marina Cabo San Lucas is likely to be your destination. It’s the hub for vacationers seeking to make waves in any sea-faring adventure and this month, we’re excited to tell you all about it so you can make the most of it while you’re here.
The charming waterfront at Marina Cabo San Lucas is practically swimming with things to see and do. Warm with its sunny neighborhood feel, it offers a rich collection of cafes and shops from which to enjoy all the scenic seaside views. Take your time to check out the latest luxury yacht to arrive to the marina, watch one of the local fishing boat crews empty its net and weigh the day's biggest catch, or simply relax dockside to watch the world go by on the malecon or jetty.
Marina Cabo San Lucas looks a lot different than it did forty years ago; the marina and its surroundings were originally home to an old cannery and just a few charter fishing boats. These days it’s hard to see the sea for the boats as the area has become the put-in and starting point for the majority of any Los Cabos water-based activities companies. Cabo Adventures, as one example and one of Pueblo Bonito guests’ favorites, has offices on the marina, and invites lucky adventurers to meet there before setting sail, scuba diving, searching for whales, or catching a big fish of their own. But for those who would rather dive in and get their feet wet, Cabo Dolphins—one of the most visited destinations at the marina—offers an array of activities to play with dolphins. Its “Swim with Dolphins” program, featuring a docile team of Pacific Bottlenose dolphins, is among the most popular attractions in all of Cabo San Lucas. The “Dolphin Encounter” programs is a fun introduction to dolphins for people of all swim abilities. And for the ultimate experience, the “Dolphin Trainer for a Day” program, offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at dolphin care and training.
Whatever you do, make sure and save time to hunt for treasure at the marina’s “Golden Zone,” locals’ name for the high-end stretch of the marina boardwalk that hosts many of the premier designer shops and retailers in the area. The “Golden Zone” includes Puerto Paraiso Mall and the adjoining Luxury Avenue boutique complex where you’ll find Cartier, Fendi, and other international boutiques. The mall houses a movie theater, too, for those who crave a bit of shade. Many consider Puerto Paraiso in the “Golden Zone” to be the marina’s epicenter, with its distinctive tower serving as an orientational landmark for first and long-time visitors. Shop to look. Shop to remember. Shop to take a piece of Marina Cabo San Lucas home with you.
But the marina boardwalk isn’t solely for shopping. It’s the perfect pathway—snaking around the marina’s 380 slips and 200-plus foot yachts—to watch the marina hum. Go in the morning to join the parade of walkers and runners and learn the rhythms of local fishermen. Go in the afternoon and stay long enough to pause for a cocktail at one of the local restaurants. Do what moves you and make a plan to return and take part in any of the activities we’ve mentioned.
Book your stay today and be sure to make the marina a special part of Los Cabos visit.
