After a years-long wait, it’s World Cup season once again. Unusually, the “futbol” tournament will take place in November this year, not the typical June to July timeframe. Due to the physical dangers associated with playing in summer’s extreme heat in host country Qatar, FIFA’s executive committee decided to move the 2022 World Cup to a time when high temperatures won’t reach above 80F. Matches begin Sunday morning, November 20th, at 10:00 when Qatar faces Ecuador. Watch the United States play Gales at 1:00 in the afternoon on Monday the 21st and again on the 25th when they play England. Our home country, Mexico, faces Argentina on Saturday, November 26th at 1:00pm. The Cup continues through the weeks with matches nearly every day until the semi-finals and finals in mid-December. Since The After is open to adults until 2 am, and the matches end in the afternoon, make plans to stay. From 11 pm onward on most nights, The After cranks up the music with special theme parties and an in-house DJ.
