Your Ultimate Guide to the Biggest Events in Los Cabos in 2025

At the sun-drenched tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos is no stranger to world-class events, and 2025 promises an exciting lineup of can’t-miss celebrations and emerging favorites. From world-class sports tournaments to cultural traditions, there’s something for every kind of traveler and trip you want to take to the destination. Here’s a look at the top events coming up this year, organized chronologically so you can plan your visit.

Kicking off with ABC Art Baja, the contemporary art festival that takes place across multiple venues in Los Cabos, La Paz, Todos Santos, Ensenada, and Tijuana from March 20 to May 31. This annual multi-city festival features art exhibitions, performances, workshops, and interactive installations that serve as a beautiful and engaging platform for promoting culture. As a launch pad for emerging artists' careers, it’s also a great place to be among the first to get to know up-and-coming creatives and pick up original pieces at a reasonable cost.

Go from the colorful street to the cool blue waves in June during the Los Cabos Open of Surf: the largest surf and music festival in Mexico. Held at Zippers Beach Break in Costa Azul, this event has always attracted legendary surfers from around the globe, like Rob Machado, Sage Erickson, Josh Kerr, and Kalani Robb. Between thrilling heats, soak up the laid-back vibes with the live music and beachside parties that make this one of the most anticipated festivals of the year.

A little later in the summer — July 14-19 — the Mifel Tennis Open takes place at the Cabo Sports Complex, one of Mexico’s most architecturally striking sports venues. With rammed-earth walls, natural cooling elements, and a design that harmonizes with the local landscape, the complex itself is a unique destination that can enchant even the most casual sporting fans. As part of the ATP 250 series, this tournament brings world-class players to Los Cabos for a week of high-energy matches.

As the weather cools, athletes from around the world will descend upon Los Cabos in October for the Ironman triathlon. The grueling 140.6-mile endurance race that consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile marathon run will take place across various areas of Los Cabos, surrounding participants with stunning ocean views and desert landscapes at all times.

Los Cabos is a sportfishing paradise throughout the year, but fall brings some of the biggest tournaments to the region with some of the biggest purses in the annual fishing calendar. The season kicks off in October with the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, a multi-day competition known for its high-energy atmosphere and impressive cash payouts. Soon after, the legendary Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament—often called the “Little Bisbee’s”—sets the stage for big-game action and lively marina festivities, followed by the crown jewel of the season: Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournament. It’s one of the richest sportfishing competitions in the world, with multi-million-dollar payouts and regular record-breaking catches. The season wraps up with the Western Outdoor News (WON) Cabo Tuna Jackpot in early November, a fast-paced event focusing specifically on yellowfin tuna. Expect astounding weigh-ins, lively festivities, and an unbeatable atmosphere all around the Cabo San Lucas Marina.

Taking it inland, on a day trip to La Paz, the Baja 1000 is the “Granddaddy of All Desert Races.” Thrilling the adrenaline-seeking and the casually curious, this legendary off-road motorsport race takes place in November and spans the length of the rugged peninsula starting in Ensenada and ending in the Baja California Sur capital.

Also on land, but decidedly less rugged, the PGA Tour World Wide Technology Championship, will take place November 3–9, at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal golf course in the Diamante Cabo San Lucas resort. With payouts exceeding $7 million, this tournament attracts some of the world’s best golfers, who get to showcase their talent against stunning dunes and arroyos that open up to long-range views of the Pacific.

Cinephiles should also make their way to Los Cabos in November for the Los Cabos International Film Festival and the beginning of the San José del Cabo Art Walk season. The well-respected film festival showcases the best of Mexican, Latin American, and international cinema, featuring world premieres, industry panels, and celebrity appearances.

For a slightly more casual artistic outing, make sure your stay includes a Thursday evening, as every week from November to June, San José del Cabo’s Gallery District becomes a pedestrian culture vulture’s haven. Art lovers stroll from one open gallery to the next, meeting the local and international artists whose works are on display, while the restaurant and shop owners get in on the action by creating special menus, offering drink and small plate specials, or simply extending their hours.

And if your visit extends into December, you’re in for a treat; whale-watching season begins, offering a front-row seat to one of nature’s most spectacular migrations. Guests at The Towers at Pacífica can even enjoy the sight from an exclusive VIP Lounge, where breaching whales and their playful calves provide an unforgettable finale to your Los Cabos adventure.
